Counselling I offer

  • I work with high-achieving individuals who feel like they are secretly falling apart, especially those navigating chronic overwhelm, burnout, ADHD or identity shifts.

Are you ambitious or successful on paper, but on the inside you feel like you are barely holding it together? You might be juggling a demanding career, negotiating family life, quietly crumbling under the weight of perfectionism, and never feeling ‘enough’. Perhaps you are used to figuring things out on your own, but are now exhausted, overwhelmed, and you are ready to reach out for help.

I do not just listen; I help you make sense of what is going on and move forward with clarity, confidence, and self-trust. As an integrative counsellor, I tailor my counselling to suit my clients. However, my overall approach is warm and gently challenging.

After having therapy with me, many clients have expressed feeling heard, understood, hopeful, and less fearful, as well as having a better understanding of themselves. We can work together to help you become more resilient, less fearful, and more confident in coping with your future.

  • I have been a university counsellor for several years. However old you are, being a student can come with highs, lows and stresses, whether related to the course itself, relationship issues, being away from home or juggling personal life alongside studying etc. Maybe it is your first time away from home and you are feeling overwhelmed, maybe you are feeling under pressure from family, maybe you are questioning whether you are able to complete your course, maybe you are wondering whether you have picked the wrong course, maybe you are struggling to fit it, maybe you are struggling to cope with additional responsibilities you have whilst studying, maybe you haven’t studied in many years and are struggling to adjust to being a student again.

I have spent many years in further and higher education (in fact it is unusual if I am not studying something!). I have experienced all of these things at some point, so whilst your experience and feelings are unique to you, the chances are that I have been there and get it.

Depending on availability, I offer some concessionary rates for students. These are provided on a trust basis, so if finances are not a struggle for you, please allow these places for those who do need them.

  • Do you feel alone and frustrated when people don’t understand? Maybe you struggle to find where and how you fit in society, and wonder what’s the point of everything. Whether you’re unwell or in a caring role, life can become overwhelming and feel unfair when affected by chronic illness. Perhaps you feel your life has been turned upside down and you miss the previous life you had.

These are just a few of the challenges we could explore together. I have personal experience of living with chronic health difficulties including a rare condition, which has given me first-hand experience of what it can feel like to encounter many of the concerns and feelings I have discussed above. I ‘get it’. I have spent my career caring for others in various settings, mostly supporting those who are chronically or acutely unwell, so understand different perspectives.

  • Do you feel violated, invaded, or traumatised from something medical-related? Maybe you had tests or treatment which caused you distress, or you have seen someone experience a medical emergency, or you may be in a medical profession where you have been affected by what you witnessed.

  • Your course provider may require or recommend you have a certain number of hours of personal therapy whilst you are training to be a counsellor yourself. Engaging in personal therapy is crucial for your growth, development and self-awareness in becoming a counsellor. I strongly advocate for trainee/student counsellors to experience the benefits of individual personal therapy. Having gone through counselling training and having had personal therapy throughout, I understand the complexity of what it is like to do a counselling course and the profound impact it can have on you.
